Was very busy when I went, but it’s absolutely worth it! Beautiful view, lovely hike and the observatory is completely free, I even looked through the night sky telescope

We parked down the hill and hiked up. You do need to pay for parking (there are parking machines. Think they're card only). It is currently $10/hour. I recommend minimum 3 hours. You'll want more if you plan to attend shows and really explore.
We really enjoyed our time here. It is beautiful, smells nice, and a lot of it is free.
We met Derrick while looking downstairs at all of the planets/stars in our orbit. It was such an honor to talk to him and hear him geek out (I mean this as a total compliment) about something he is so obviously passionate about. He showed us a picture of the seismogram from the earthquake the other day, and also some pictures of the Sun. He told us his favorite place is upstairs where you can see the Sun and it's skin and suggested we go there (we did - it was awesome). He also suggested we stop at the help desk by the gift shop and ask to see a really cool meteorite in a wooden box, which we did, and that's where we met John, who showed us the 4.5 billion year old meteorite. We all held it, took a picture with it, and learned more about it. John is also passionate and it was a true treat to talk to him. He told my kids they could be the next astronauts on Mars and a step-by-step on how to go about it. 1) go to a community college for 2 years to get generals out of the way, 2) go to *Cal Tech* for your PhD in Physics. John also saw us at an exhibit later close by and came over to tell us more about it. It was his favorite. We are so lucky to have come across two absolutely genuine people who were so eager and willing to share their love and knowledge with us.
If you're wondering what Einstein is pointing at, Derrick will tell you during their speech.
To Derrick: "It is said that looking at the stars at night people have felt drawn to a specific constellation in which a fascination grew. Sometimes this is a path to understanding where you have derived from." -Alexander Quinn "Starseeds What's It All About?" Pg. 97

Consigliato a tutti!
